Refunds at Georgetown come largely by request. If you are eligible for a refund, you are encouraged to request it as soon as funds are deposited in your account, and you are fairly certain that you will not incur significant further charges from the university. This includes anyone eligible for title IV refunds (see below). If you plan to request a refund, please read this information about the process first.
Federal law mandates that certain types of funds be refunded to you if they exceed tuition charges. These refunds are processed automatically and are called Title IV refunds. Checks or electronic payments are generated automatically. If you are due to receive or have received Federal loan money, please read this information.
In addition to governing the disbursement of refunds, the FERPA laws also dictate who may access a student's educational information including his or her financial information as is relevant to the university. These are federal regulations under the Department of Education. Parents and others looking after a student's finances, please read this information.
